Waldorf residents Tavon James Dodson, 26, and Sean Gerard Estep, 36, were the subject of multiple noise complaints about operating their vehicles recklessly in Charles County, leading to a special enforcement detail in their hometown that led to their arrests on Wednesday, June 29.

Officers from the sheriff's office said that investigators were made aware of reckless driving in the area of St. Thomas Drive, Village Street, and Stoddert Middle School, leading to the detail.

Upon arrival at the scene, a spokesperson for the sheriff said that officers located multiple people driving erratically, leading to the apprehension of Dodson, who was taken into custody without incident.

When an officer attempted to stop a second rider - later identified as Estep - he failed to comply with officers' commands and unsuccessfully attempted to speed away, according to the sheriff's office. An officer was able to shut off the SUV and he too was taken into custody without further incident.

The investigation into Estep found that he was allegedly in possession of crack cocaine, and the ATV he attempted to speed away from officers on had an altered VIN number

Dodson was charged with operating an off-road vehicle on government property.

Estep was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance;
  • Operating an off-road vehicle on government property;
  • Removing the serial number on a vehicle;
  • Resisting arrest.

Both men were taken to the Charles County detention Center where they were charged and later released without bail. The ATVs they were riding were also impounded to add to the punishment.

The investigation into the latest incident is ongoing.
